Recently we were making changes to the service in order to support long term features.  As part of that process it became clear that it would be best for us to temporarily stop the beta testing we had been doing, both for friends and family as well as a group that came through a partnership.

I spoke to one of the beta testers about the service and was asking what his experience had been.  They stated in no-uncertain terms that the reminders helped establish a habit for him to take vitamins - a goal he had for using the service.  Are taking vitamins a treatment for a chronic medical condition?  No, they aren’t.  But they do contribute to one's overall wellness.

Wellness use case - check!

This individual then shared an interesting story.  He is a board member for an industrial company. Two weeks prior, he was attending a corporate meeting.  During a session, another board member started telling dad jokes, and getting a response of groans and laughter.  Our beta tester, fortified with material from his vitamin experience, told a couple of jokes that he recently received. One went over okay, but the second caused a huge roar of laughter.

Corporate board meetings?!?  No, never anticipated that would be a use case.

A few days later a friend who I’d recently had lunch with asked if his mom could use the service.  She is in her 80’s and at an assisted living facility.  His thought was that he could set up a reminder for her in the mid-afternoon to get a dad joke.  She could then use the joke as a conversation starter at dinner.

Wow.  Never thought of that as a use case.

It truly is amazing how a simple idea can be used, in ways large and small, to help people with their lives.  We truly love what we do.
